About This Recipe
Chowmein is a popular noodle dish that can be prepared beautifully in a Satvik kitchen. Annam Satvik Chowmein Masala adds a rich aromatic character to the noodles while keeping the preparation simple, wholesome and free from onion and garlic.
Ingredients
• Noodles – 200 g
• Carrot – 1 medium, thinly sliced
• Cabbage – 1 cup, finely shredded
• Capsicum – 1 medium, thinly sliced
• French beans – ½ cup, finely sliced
• Ginger – 1 tsp, finely grated
• Annam Satvik Chowmein Masala – 1½–2 tsp
• Black Pepper – ¼ tsp, optional
• Salt – to taste
• Ghee or cooking oil – 1½ tbsp
• Fresh coriander – for garnish
• Water – as required
How to Prepare
1. Prepare the noodles
Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until just tender. Drain and rinse briefly with cool water. Toss with a few drops of oil to prevent sticking.
2. Prepare the vegetables
Heat ghee or cooking oil in a wide pan or wok. Add finely grated ginger and sauté gently until aromatic.
3. Stir-fry the vegetables
Add sliced carrot, cabbage, capsicum and French beans. Stir-fry over medium-high heat until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
4. Add the spices
Add black pepper and Annam Satvik Chowmein Masala. Mix well and cook for 1–2 minutes on medium heat so the spices become aromatic.
5. Add the noodles
Add the cooked noodles and gently toss everything together until the noodles are evenly coated with the vegetables and spices.
6. Adjust the seasoning
Add salt to taste and continue tossing gently for another 1–2 minutes. Add a small splash of water if needed to keep the noodles moist.
7. Finish and serve
Add fresh coriander and give everything a gentle toss. Serve hot with your favourite Satvik accompaniment or chutney.
Serving Suggestions
Serve hot as a complete meal or alongside a fresh Satvik tomato chutney. For a heartier meal, pair it with steamed vegetables or your favourite Satvik side dish
Satvik Tip: eep the vegetables slightly crisp rather than overcooking them. A wide pan and high heat help maintain their texture while allowing the Chowmein Masala to develop its full aroma.
